JESUS IS OUR REDEEMER ……

JESUS IS OUR REDEEMER ……

Jeremiah 50:34 Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

(KJV)

Isaiah 48:17 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

Jackie Robinson was the first black person to play major league baseball. Breaking baseball's color barrier, he faced jeering crowds in every stadium.

Players would stamp on his feet and kick him.

While playing one day in his home stadium in Brooklyn, he made an error. The fans began to ridicule him.

He stood at second base, humiliated, while the fans jeered.

Then, shortstop Pee Wee Reese came over and stood next to him. He put his arm around Jackie Robinson and faced the crowd.

The fans grew quiet.

Robinson later said that arm around his shoulder saved his career.

We are sometimes like Jackie Robinson, full of shame. Sometimes, like Jackie, our shame is from nothing we've done.

Sometimes our shame is from our own sin and guilt.

And like Pee Wee Reese, Jesus comes and slips his arm around us, and bears our shame for us.

That's what we remember at communion-- Jesus coming to earth with his strong arm of salvation.

"Israel has been saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation; you will not be put to shame or humiliated to all eternity."

Bottom line is, regularly remind yourself of what Jesus did for you. His death is your salvation.

Also, regularly study and meditate God's goodness in you and your family.

And If you're still not studying scriptures, today is the perfect day to start this "holy habit."
